Zojoji (temple), this temple is the head temple in the Kanto Region!!

Zojoji

Standing next to the Tokyo Tower, Zojoji Temple is the head temple of the Jodo sect of Japanese Buddhism in the Kanto Region. The temple went to its present place in 1598 and was constructed in the year 1393 by Tokugawa Ieyasu who picked it as his family temple.

The mausoleum of the Tokugawa family may be located on the temple grounds. Most of the buildings of Zojoji are latest reconstructions excluding the primary entry gate, the Sangedatsumon, that has survived wars, earthquakes and many fires and dates from 1622.
